Re: [THoT] How much gold for Invaders
I played on 1.6.5. I do not know the differences but at least my castle is smaller (can only recruit 6 soldiers at a time).

[THoT] How much gold for Invaders
I am more or less stuck on the Invaders scenario (playing as lord/hard). I have a quite good army: my leader is lvl 3, the loremaster halfway lvl2, and I succeed in leveling him up early in the scenario. Additionally I have a number of lvl2's and another lvl 3. But my gold is limited: 174. I replaye...

Re: Elvish Archer or Elvish Fighter?
Argument when choosing how to level you elves: Captain: - if you have al lot of lvl1 around (often) - intelligent / quick fighters: can more early/easily assist lvl1 colleagues Hero: - for strong fighters: as strong hero is somebody to fear - if you need a strong defence, e.g. against northeners - i...

Re: Defence strategies? (for the AI)
In my opinion improving the recruiting abilities of the AI is more urgent. It tends to ingore the main units and recruits specialists only instead. Exclusively heavy infantry instead of spearmen, no elvish fighters but archers, no drake fighters but clashers and burners only. Another, less important...

The healing capacity of dead Augurs is not so impressive.Caphriel wrote:This is why a Drake player will use some augurs in this matchup, depending on the number of assassins deployed.

Re: How to play Northerners
I don't get it. Using a poison/marksman attack against drakes which have natural high hp and low defense, plus it's almost positive that an augur will be nearby. Maybe the augur is not right beside the target drake though, so you'll do 3~9 damage plus 8 poison damage, 11~17 damage total. From there...

Re: How to play Northerners
When I am playing vs drakes, I consider assassins as expandable. I allways put them on high defense ground, but they will die. The point is that you have to make the drakes pay for that. If you poisoned 3 or 4 drakes it's worth the price of the assassin. Even if they escape, they won't attack full s...

Re: Scenario Review: (HttT) Valley of Death
I just finished this scenario on normal, without loosing a single unit. The trick was to immediately attack the east Lich. I sent out a white and red mage, a sorceress, three knights, 2 Elvish Rides, Delfador, Kalenz and Konrad. I could easily kill the 8 wraths, the walking corpses killed themselves...

Re: What's your Inital Recruitment?
The initial recruit (and subsequent recruits) of AI are annoying. Often he does not recruit the basic fighter units: elvish fighter (only archers), human spearman (only HI), drake fighter (only clashers). And he recruits way to many griphons, who will be dead before supporting units arrive. Only his...

Re: How many healers?
I think four is a lot, unless you have 30 units. You can use such large numbers if you healers are also strong attackers (such as white mages). If they do not have a powerful attack (elvish druids), I would restrict their numbers and rely on villages for healing of your healer. Killing dangerous ene...

Re: Goblin Spam!
I do not often recruit goblin, even though I like to play northeners. Because you are chaotic you need to retreat at dawn, and for a goblin it is hard to get out of the way of your opponent. The neutral races don't have lvl0. Only when facing drakes I sometime recruit sometime a few goblins.

Re: How to counter Drake clashers with Rebels?
You will need shamans to slow the clasher you that you will kill next turn. Once you level one of them to a sorceress, you opponent has a problem.

Re: Bats: Flying Wonders?
Ghosts are not that annoying. Magi and Adepts own them. Orcish Archers are quite effective too. And all fire-breathing Drakes will make short work of them, especially Gliders(with their speed and Marksman ability) and Burners(with their sheer attack power). Even regular piercing ranged attackers ar...

Re: The "strong" and "dextrous" traits, and you.
Maybe strong should mean +10% or +1HP, whichever is largers. As it is now, strong affects units with a larger number of weak hits (elvish fighter, fencer) much less then units with a few powerful hits (orcs, drarfish fighters, trolls).

Re: Muff Malal Peninsula (HttT 5)
Long time ago since I played this level. But I remember sending a knight and a small number of mermen for distant villages and distracting undead forces. A fair number of fighters and mages as main force was enough to beat them.
