Re: Balance of the game
Good afternoon, dear developers of Battle for Wesnoth! I write to you to express my concerns about balance of the game. After studying statistics of the tournament games at Russian forum of the game http://tour.wesnothlife.ru/stats.php Drakes - 54.91% Loyals - 53.33% Rebels - 48.43% Northeners - 49...

Re: Balance of the game
I would expect that the issue mainly has to do with Undead's lack of mobility. Most or all 1v1 maps have multiple fronts you have to deploy troops on and oftentimes you have to shuttle units back and forth. Having most units lacking the quickness trait mean you have that much less room for error in ...

Re: Cavanagh The Conqueror
I've always enjoyed this campaign so I'm glad to hear you're still working on it.
As for the loyal peasants you gain when taking an armory, what's the reasoning in the story for this? It seems kind of odd story wise.

Re: World Conquest: Surviving the Nightmare
It's also possible to play WC with only one or two players because I think the spawns scale to the number of players. When playing with fewer players, you need to make sure you recruit more scouts to grab villages. It can be particularly helpful if you have scouts with the woodcraft training which g...

Re: Cheating, difficulty, and a challenge to expert players.
I've never finished HttT and haven't played it much for a long time. But as a challenge I used to try to see how far I could get on hard difficulty without losing a single unit, and I'd often get through the first five or so scenarios before I'd suffer a loss and restart the campaign. (Note that thi...

Re: Game Promotion
I would suggest gathering all the college students on the forums and making a flyer that they can download, print out, and post on their college campus.

Re: Looking for an analysis
Well after having watched the replay, I think the basic problem was one of recruiting. Your recruitment was a bit too fancy and expensive while your opponent kept it simple and cheap. You had about 4 cavalrymen early on. That's the equivalent of 5.6 grunts in cost. And then your fencer died quickly ...

Re: What's your Inital Recruitment?
I normally use Loyalists and depending on how close the villages are I usually recruit 2-3 Calvarymen... -KunoNoOni This is a mistake that less experienced players sometimes seem to make. On most maps, you really don't want more than one scout on your initial recruit. Yes, cavalrymen are good for g...

Re: Northerners vs. Undead - help needed
I agree with Velensk and JW about the grunts. Recruit more grunts than trolls to start and then adjust depending on what you see your opponent recruiting. Trolls don't really do enough damage until they level and at night DAs can do a lot of harm to them while not taking enough damge to die themselv...

Re: Survivals by Golbeeze
It was really more of a problem of rolling momentum more than anything else. Once you get going, you have more than enough gold and experienced units to deal with the waves. If you stick a healer in the keep, a lot of the waves really don't hurt you too much if you play it right. I think some possib...

Re: Survivals by Golbeeze
I played the SoloSurvival default earlier today and finished it with Loyalists. It's a bit too easy in my opinion. If you get decent to good luck at the beginning it's not that hard to finish. Towards the end I had a general, two white mages, about four royal guards and a level 3 bow.

Re: Bats: Flying Wonders?
In response to Tonepoet's strategy, going all scouts on the first recruit works well on really huge maps. On smaller maps, though, a good opponent would probably just send everything to your keep right away during daytime and it would probably be over quick for you.

Re: Scenario fall-back starting points?
I imagine that this start gold, set by the devs, is also tested by the devs? I also imagine that they would be rather elite wesnoth players... :hmm: Game developers (in general) are not necessarily very good game players at all. To be good at either require quite different skill sets. That's why ga...

Re: Count Kromire
Yea I'm not sure but scenario three is excruciatingly difficult. I just can't seem to get past it. I even tried on easiest level and I couldn't do it. Is there supposed to be a keep in the middle of that small town? That would make sense... I mean aren't you supposed to be able to FEASIBLY beat the...

Re: Campaign challenges
Really funny that I would find this thread here. I just finished a challenge last night and wanted to post the replay but the replay does not seem to work. The challenge is something that I've tried to do off and on for awhile. It's not really for a campaign but for A New Land: The Last Stand. The c...
