Re: How does the AI know when to retreat?
I haven't used them yet but have you experimented with mattsc's work on Micro AI? He would be a good person to ask in any case, and is often on IRC in #wesnoth-dev.

That seems like a good idea.beetlenaut wrote:I think we definitely should. It's a bit much to expect most users to know how to choose a release option, but developers should know how to change options if they need to.iceiceice wrote:Maybe we should treat this bug in the cmake script and make it do a release build by default.

Re: GSoC project idea: measure how well units are balanced
As for automatically uploading the replay, it may not be completely obvious to players that matches that allow observers are also archived. This is not directly related to this topic, but has it been discussed whether "Archive replays on server" should be made a separate option or not? So...

Re: GSoC project idea: measure how well units are balanced
I think the second approach may be particularly useful to help us gauge the strength of the non-mainline factions, which are not tested as much as mainline. In a sense, I see the first approach (data from human matches) as a sort of "top-down" analysis, while the second one (a more straig...

Re: Khalifate Era
That is a fantastic post Horus2, and I can't thank you enough for it! I can see and agree with several parts in particular, and I think we should talk more. The reason the other thread was locked was not to squash debate, but because it was in "faction and era" rather than the mp forum, an...

Re: Chrome flags wesnoth-1.12-win32.exe as malicious
I wonder if it's worth contacting some folks at chrome to see if they can do anything about it? Or perhaps after enough downloads they might notice and investigate anyway?

Re: Khalifate Era
You could easily be right, I'm just saying that if you *want* a discussion you have to put forward in more detail what you are hoping to discuss. For example, why do you make this claim, and do you have a suggestion? EDIT: Fixed typo. Sorry for all these reaction times. I wanted to send you a pm ri...

For what it's worth, since balance is now he topic:b My experience with the Khalifa is that the army as a whole is generally pretty inefficient however the Jundi are very efficient when used well. As a result, jundi end up being most of the force with the other units being specialized auxiliaries. ...

Re: Khalifate Era
Is it over, then? Good. Currently, khals cannot beat a 400 elo points weaker loy player. Discuss. There is nothing to "discuss" following that. The last major testing came from the Alternate Era 1v1 tournament and the consensus, such as there was one, was that they were *too* good. In fac...

Re: GSoC project idea: measure how well units are balanced
Indeed, there is no way to produce any meaningful information on balance by analyzing unit stats and/or AI matches. What might be useful would perhaps be something like analyzing all matches (excluding special scenarios etc etc) played on the MP server and checking if there's any units which are pr...

Re: GSoC project idea: measure how well units are balanced
Hi all, I have posted this message before on the developers' list a few days ago, but maybe some people only look at this forum, so I post an edited version here: During the Google Summer of Code (GSoC) reunion I had a project idea. It was based on the fact that it is difficult to fine-tune the str...

Re: Khalifate Era
Wintermute, thank you for your clarity and politeness. I still don't understand why you have no possibility to change anything in the faction, since you are mantaining it. It seems paradoxical, but I understand it is not your fault. :hmm: My position is nuanced, but I'll try to just reiterate the m...

Re: Khalifate Era
I fear I have gotten people's hopes up. Let me be clear: Stuff is usually in the game unless the person or people who put it there are persuaded to take it out. For better or worse, that is largely how our system works. Myself and others have already made all the points in this thread to noy ages ag...
