I have upgraded to 1.10.1 and recompiled SDL and SDL_image, but the black screen persists.

No errors are thrown during compilation; is there something obvious I'm missing?

I have upgraded to SDL 1.2.15, compiling from source. I also compiled SDL mixer, SDL ttf, SDL image, and SDL net. Unfortunately, wesnoth is now unable to load any images and crashes when I attempt to start a game. It produces the following error code: Battle for Wesnoth v1.10.0 Started on Sun Feb 19...

Actually, that exactly describes my experience. I ran wesnoth with the --fullscreen option, and it started responding (still no sound, though).
