Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas and more
Has it been a month already ? Rest assured, I'm not dead yet. A quick note on naga anatomy ; initially I tried to design the Hunter and those recent sketches based on the sprites and the 2 old warrior portraits, which honestly didn't give too much information so you'll have to excuse any inconsisten...

Re: Royal warrior portrait
Thanks for the continued feedback, I appreciate. A few answers : - Gem plate is indeed not a codpiece at all but hangs on the side like Odium wrote ; to clarify, here's what it looks like without the shield Royal-warrior-detail.jpg - Upper legs shape and shading is alright as far as I can tell ; the...

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas
I'm still working on those nagas. Extending the detour to some anatomy research though, which let's admit I'm doing mostly for fun. I'm sure most of ya folks can live without knowing what's on their backs, but I swear, it helps with the design ! A few notes : the larger scales on their bac...

Re: Wesnoth Fauna
Looking good, I think it just needs some adjustment on proportions to read better. I don't have too much time right now, but here's a quick and dirty sketch for feedback. Also as an afterthought, maybe give the tongue and inner mouth a nice contrasting color. It doesn't need to be super realistic, b...

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas
Thanks for the feedback. Taking a fun detour with nagas : since there isn't much material to base them on, I went ahead and did some weapons concepts for the Ringcaster and Warrior lines. Could serve for other nagas as well, but we don't have this many planned. Still I will probably also tackle armo...

Re: Aragwaithi portrait
But in other ways, I don't want to expand too much to constrain other people's creations. I think you would be doing the opposite: concept sketches do not set things in stone, they open up new possibilities. Unless you make some really extreme choices, whoever comes next as an artist is more likely...

Re: Cultural Exploration of Aragwaithi
I'll admit, you caught me with that post over in art contributions . Sketches are headed in the right direction, you obviously know your way with drawing. They're still a bit too rough at this stage to give precise feedback, though; poses are interesting, but gear is often difficult to make...

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas
Good
On my end, poses for the next portraits. Feedback welcome, I'm still not set on a given pose (nor the ranged weapon type for the Ophidian)

Re: Royal warrior portrait
:hmm: You have a point. I wanted to make it a flat painted surface, but this sort of ornament belongs in a much older/simpler style of armor. There should probably be at least some engraved metal to follow with the armor. Maybe I can make the golden sceptre plus part of that decoration extra plates ...

Re: LordBob's random stuff : Nagas !
Necromancyyyyyyy ! Royal warrior is done, my next batch will be Nagas. Commencing with a tentative Myrmidon, and a method I rarely use : this one is a derivative portrait. A patch that I slapped on top of the existing Myrmidon - which would then become the lv2 Warrior. It is not original artwork, bu...

Thanks
Portrait's finished. I still need to add lines and crop it, but in the meantime here's the full picture

Re: Wesnoth Fauna
Lots of promising additions ; should we plan portraits for them ? (Many will be easier to do than humanoids, so it's not as much work as it may seem). On sprites themselves, there are a few that could be reworked into something more pleasing before integration : - Stoat (snow surricate-like creature...

Re: Ghouls
More ghoul sketching. This is mostly me having fun with designs though, so please ignore if you have a set direction in mind. I tried to steer away from the zombie face this time. All of these have in common that the necromancer has altered, or altogether replaced, part or all of the jaw. Combined w...

Re: Royal warrior portrait
Royal warrior update. Progress is slow because I'm designing each and every decorative pattern. In fact I strayed from my initial sketch and may have lost myself into too much ornament, but what's royalty without some bling ? Oh well, maybe I will recycle the simpler design for a future portrait. Wh...

Re: Ghouls
Fair enough, we want more than a nacked zombie. I hadn't checked the unit profile in ages and I reckon my take is too human as well. If the process is artificial from the get go, we can go full Frankenstein indeed. I still think there should be a visible gradation in decay and body deformation from ...
