Re: Rise of Wesnoth
Try to get as many leveled units as possible (obviously). To do this, try to focus your kills on a small number of units, since units gain the most XP when they kill an enemy. If you can level up 4 units per scenario, you're doing good, but you may be able to make it with less. Also, the first coupl...

1680?. Every time you do something that applies in this thread, the first thing you think about is whether to post it. 1681. You don't even think about it because everything is worth posting. 1682. You read through almost the entire thread on the hope that there might be something good after the fir...

Re: Breaking the Siege
... Though I maintain the campaign scenario is too difficult unless one recalls experienced units. They really made the difference, especially in the north, where two units defeated both orcish leaders after their lower level counterparts where wiped out in the first orc wave. Now I know leveling u...

Re: Campaign challenges
Even though it probably isn't very impressive, only on medium and very specific, I was proud of this In the Rise of Wesnoth scenario, the troll hole, for no apparent reason, I recruited a peasant. About turn 18-22 of the level, I had advanced him to a halberdier. Perhaps you could make challenges l...

Re: Scenario fall-back starting points?
One thing that you're overlooking is that a lot of new players don't level up their units on the first few playthroughs, get to that 4th or 6th scenario, and find it unbeatable. Some of us will then come to the forums and figure out what we're doing wrong. I'm guessing that a lot of new players jus...

Re: Leveling Choice: Grand Knight vs. Paladin
Lancers are okay, but their lack of an advance to L3 generally prevents me from getting more than one or two. They're great units for running to take villages as well, assuming you don't have any elvish riders, which are superior for that in my opinion due to not being slowed as much by difficult te...

Re: The "strong" and "dextrous" traits, and you.
Usually I dont pay attention to traits, except the "quick" one wich is the best in my opinion. Its not that they dont make enough difference to be accounted for, but because I dont like to complicate things much so I use units the same way indendependly of their traits honestly, the quick...

Re: Cannot start game due to video error
Could someone explain what I need to do to fix that? Do I need to change an option somewhere?
Thanks for the help.
Edit: I understand that this is probably not the most relevant place to post this question, but since this topic is already here...

Re: WHAT TO DO if you can't beat a scenario in a campaign:
Nice strategy about looking up levels up you put there. Guess what, you can't see what unit levels up to, before you actually level them up. Help file won't show it. Personally, I don't even know what the hell Shyde is. You can visit http://www.wesnoth.org/units/ to see all the units. Or you could ...

Cannot start game due to video error
I have been playing Wesnoth for several months now under Windows but recently attempted to install it on Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope (9.04). When I attempt to start from the GUI, nothing happens. If I enter 'wesnoth' into terminal, I get the message: Battle for Wesnoth v1.6 Started on Thu Jun 18 16:07:3...
