Re: Will the footpad be nerfed in 1.10?
Removing the negative physical resistances would make the footpad even better than it is now. I don't think that the resistances should be touched at all. No, it would not. If its base hp would be dropped from 30 to 24 at the same time, it would die almost as easily to pierce and impact and would b...

Can't connect to the stable server
I haven't been able to connect to the stable version's multiplayer server for the whole day. It has been like this quite often lately. It's not just me, right? I see some ladder games have been played, but I haven't been trying to connect every hour for the whole day, of course. Maybe BfW should sta...

Re: Will the footpad be nerfed in 1.10?
After thinking about this a bit more, I think the best and most simple solution might be to lower Footpad's cold resistance from +0% to -20% or -10% (in case 20 is over doing it, I haven't done the calculations), to make its ranged attack a little less powerful against Ghost and its staying power sm...

Re: Will the footpad be nerfed in 1.10?
Both ranged and melee going from 5-2 to 4-2 is a huge nerf actually: the pad will deal 20% less damage with both ranged and melee. It's like the difference of day and ..morning! The nerf is happening because of the Footpad's power against UD, especially when combined with Ulf , right? If so, isn't t...

Re: Banking=evil?
Seems like you guys are forgetting something: if you are not recruiting, you can have your higher level leader in the front lines, helping you with defense. Of course that won't work so well in a map with a very wide front line for the amount of villages, or with multiple fronts far apart. But in so...

Re: Era: Doubling strikes and health for slightly less luck
Thanks for pointing out that thread, zookeeper. It seems the guy behind that project had - after some critique - exactly the same ideas I mentioned in my starting post. I think I'll try asking those guys if they still have interest to work on this. Some critique in the thread that wasn't addressed: ...

Era: Doubling strikes and health for slightly less luck
First of all, I'm sorry if this has been suggested before. I did find a lot of different kinds of ideas to reduce the luck or to make it go away entirely, but could not find one that applies a method like this. My idea is very simple but effective: Number of strikes for each attack could be doubled,...

Re: Scenario Review: NR 1 - Breaking the Chains
(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? Swordsman (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 5 if the orcs weaken each other evenly. It could be quite a lot harder though if one of the orcs gets crushed early because of luck or something. I finished 13 turns early and st...

Re: Scenario Review: SotBE 18 - Northern Alliance
(1) What difficulty level and version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on? Medium/Difficult, 1.6.5 (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10 ) 2, with lots of money, 6 orc warlords and some saurian soothsayers and if you kill the north-eastern enemy first. (3) How clear did you find...

Re: Popularity of certain maps in MP
Wow, my guess got quite close to the percentages mentioned above. Here are some numbers I collected for the past 4 days from http://replays.wesnoth.org: Weldyn 22 + 18 + 38 + 46 = 124 Freelands 41 + 48 + 79 + 59 = 227 Basilisk 41 + 19 + 73 + 70 = 203 den of oni 21 + 22 + 20 + 21 = 84 hamlets 31 + 25...

Popularity of certain maps in MP
It seems something like 60% of 1v1 multiplayer games are played in either Freelands or Weldyn Channel, 30% in Caves of Basilisk, Den of Oni or Hamlets and only 10% in the rest. (Are there statistics available about this by the way?) Why is this? Although I like Cynsaun Battlefield a lot myself, I ca...

Re: Calculation time for AI
Ok good to know. One simple thing it could do would be to assume no sequence of misses less likely than, say, 5% ever happens. That would mean hitting at least once every four attacks with 40% defense for example, which could keep the number of calculated rounds fairly small while not affecting accu...

Re: Calculation time for AI
Currently, AI calculated the chance to kill by running a simulation per unit for all permutation. Surely this can't be true as the number of permutations is infinite. It's always perfectly possible for an ulf to fight with e.g. a mage for 1000, 1000000 or no matter how many rounds, although that is...
