Re: The Deceiver's Gambit - Revision - Suggestions and Feedback Thread

I'm open to adding another scenario if need-be, but I feel that adding a whole Eldred-focused scenario might be a bit too much of a tangent. Though I do agree that Eldred really needs more characterization before his betrayal; particularly his relationship with both Garard and Asheviere. How would y...

Re: The Deceiver's Gambit - New Mainline Candidate!

Nah, it took me a couple of tries. First try I aimed for 100+ finishing gold, which I decided wasn't going to be doable. Second try I waited too long to go after Asheviere, and didn't make it in time. Third time's the charm!

The Deceiver's Gambit - Revision - Suggestions and Feedback Thread

Hello all! I'm working on a version 2.0 of TDG, taking into account the excellent feedback that you've all provided on both the forums and discord. (I've temporarily taken TDG off the add-on server while I prepare the new version) My story goals are: - make Garard less of a caricature, particularly ...

Re: The Deceiver's Gambit - New Mainline Candidate!

Uh oh, that's not good! Easy is supposed to be E-A-S-Y, especially for an experienced player. Thanks for letting me know this scenario is too hard - I'll need to change difficulty (and probably pretty drastically too). If you'd like to post a start-of-scenario save, I'd be happy to play through and ...

Re: 17a. The Duel

Campaign maker here - just want to say that I've read all your feedback and I really appreciate all the time you've put into playing and reviewing EI! If there's anything specific you'd like changed for 1.20, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Re: Giving a Try with portraits

Very nice! Note that the Mari "Female Captain" unit is missing her left arm - that probably should have been put in the original post! She does indeed wield a sword, and does wear armor without a helmet. The unit can be found in Yumi's "The South Guard, Revised" add-on, on the 1....

Re: The South Guard (Revised)

Not getting caught on minor details also doesn't mean we shouldn't strive to make it more logically consistent. I think you also haven't gotten my point that the majority of the interactions are optional. I wouldn't have an issue with optional interactions that flesh out Deoran and co. My concern i...

Re: The South Guard (Revised)

I'm not necessarily trying to push my particular version, but you did ask multiple times for suggestions, particularly in the discord, no? I do worry we might be getting a little hung up on minor bits of the Wesnoth world. In my experience, players tend to care most about a compelling story with int...

Re: The South Guard (Revised)

I agree with you both about Sir Gerrick's sacrifice - it's a lot less meaningful when he hasn't been with the player. I'm not sure a great solution here. Do any of you have suggestions? Some of my concerns are: Gerrick and Mari fill very similar story roles, as "generic military adviser guy&quo...

Re: The South Guard (Revised)

If it were entirely up to me, in an attempt to appeal to both veterans and newbies, perhaps the tutorial/TSG would look something like this? I've tried to keep core characters and scenarios, while still limiting the complexity the player gets exposed to. This is purely my suggestion; not trying to f...

Re: The Deceiver's Gambit - New Mainline Candidate!

I certainly don't want Delfador or Kaylan to feel like a villian, and I was aiming for closer to "flawed" for Garard, not "idiot". Will be working on some dialogue revisions to try and improve things; thanks for the feedback! 2) The revised EI uses story elements from DM, most ob...

Re: 11. Captured

There's a spot to the northeast of Dacyn's starting location to which you can move Dacyn and wall him off with Gweddry and Owaec, in a way that makes it impossible for the orcs to attack him. That should keep him safe while the rest of your prisoners break out.

Alternatively, put a real village on the tile and use PLACE_IMAGE to cover it up with your desired variation
