Several of our mainline campaigns are in the works for upgrades at the moment, which includes adding characters and enhancing existing scenarios. We are looking for more artwork to supplement these upgrades, including the following:
We are happy to announce that Wesnoth is now able to accept donations on Liberapay . While Wesnoth does rely on the work of dedicated volunteers, no project can function completely cost-free. Revenue from the Apple App Store and from donations goes towards maintaining our servers,...
There have been numerous important forum posts and wiki articles written by users and developers. We reference these pages a lot, and decided to put them together in a convenient list.
Write clearly, be nice to others, and be very careful when posting anything related to politics or religion. When asking for help, remember that everyone here is a volunteer. Prefer editing your previous post over double posting. No animated avatars or graphical signatures. Don’t plagiarize other’s...
Please make sure to read the wiki page regarding how Wesnoth handles copyright. Not reading on how Wesnoth handles copyright does not prevent the information stated therein from applying to everything posted to this forum.
Those who have been members of this forum for a while might recall that a few years ago I was working on a small orchestral sample library in soundfont format called Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra. I was never really happy with the way it was turning out, and the final blow was learning that a lot of...
Hello. I'm Gwren1, known also as Aleph Wren. (Yeah yeah, you can find me on facebook like that).
I'm 23 years old and have worked on many projects as a sound designer. Pretty cool, huh? ;)
Now I discovered Battle for Wesnoth not a long time ago (about a year or so) and decided to install it again...
I was thinking about where I could get some freely redistributable music for a music mod for Europa Universalis IV (a commercial game), and I thought, hey, why not have a look at Battle for Wesnoth? So I did, and I was very surprised to find that you have your music licensed under the...
Time and again the question comes up if there's any good free DAW available for Windows. So far I've always answered 'no'.
Today however I found a very nice free open source app called Macaw . Never heard of it before, I came across it when checking out a link to some other stuff from the same...
Is this the appropriate forum for a question regarding the BfW-wolves ?
I just wonder about the wolf-die -sound that so effectively highlighted this event
when I first played through mainline (v1.8.6, September 2012).
It was a nicely scary, typical howling.
I can´t say when this great sound has...
It's been my experience playing Battle for Wesnoth that the soundtrack is rather mellow. Really, by far the most epic and exciting song on the entire soundtrack is Over the Northern Mountains (which is coincidentally my absolute favorite song in the entire game and I think it's just criminally...
As fabi said short pieces were needed for intros and events, I made this short piece (I have other, more complex and longer pieces coming). It's intended to loop. I tried to make a simple, medieval-dance-like piece.
I'm looking for an ooooooold music stuff that was existing in a previous Wesnoth version (1.0.2 maybe). Are there any ways to get a patch in the add-ons extention download page?
Best
You're in a gloomy cave, lost, walking since hours, or has it been days? It feels like this place is beyond time.
The only light comes from a flickering torch that keeps eating away at the stale air. It is quiet. Too quiet.
Yet there is sound. It feels like the cave itself is vibrating, weaving its...
I didn't really mention this, (unless my memory is serving me incorrectly) but I am currently writing music for a project, Hero of Allacrost, headed by Tyler Olsen.
I am interested to get a bit of feedback wherever possible so I thought I might show you guys what I have going on.
It's been some time since I said I intended to make some music for the game. Months, actually. I finally got to finish the slow piece I started several months ago. It is supposed to serve the same purpose as Revelation , more or less. What do you think of it?
Hi. I have a question about music composition.
I have to report that it is mainly a question I do to you becouse I don't know other places where it is possible to find people who make music compositions for pc not recording real instruments, but creating them virtually.
I recently found the great componist Alexandr Zhelanov on opengamesart, who is providing his music under a special creative common licence (Attribution 3.0 Unported (CC BY 3.0) ) and I'd like to use his music for one of my projects. I'd say it is not possible to use music with creative common in...
Is music development more or less active? I haven't checked here frequently for a long time now. Last time I knew, West had stepped out from managing the music for the game and Tyler had stepped in. What's the situation now? From the latest posts, it seems to be a little quiet around here.
Are the midi files of all currently used compositions available anywhere? The idea is, instead of creating totally new, trying to do some variations to already available, accepted and liked compositions.
i was just reading the music-developement threads. no electrical guitars allowed in wesnoth.
i had the idea to record some metal-versions of some of the wesnoth-tunes.
if i finish one, i'll tell you.
maybe some people would like an altenative style of music, keeping those nice melodies, but...
is there a place where I can hear/stream/download all of the wesnoth music at once? I'm working on a campaign and am trying to figure out what pieces best set the mood...
OK, as per marcusvinicius's request , here's a new attempt at a composer's resource thread. Presently it's just stuff from the top of my head. Feel free to add your suggestions, I really don't remember what was in the old thread.
Please keep in mind that this is all stuff that people are offering...
I am thinking that there should be donation links for the music composers of BfW on this forum (or somewhere else). The quality of Wesnoth default music is very high, and it is a definitely important part for BfW to keep and carry more players and users.
Here we use to have a topic that had resourcers for composers such as soundfonts, VST's and etc... Where is that topic?
Wherever it is, I just want to show you this project:
They made a free orchestra for Kontact and it is in the KVR 2012 dev challenge.
Nothing more to say, just good bye :D
Instead of necroing up the old thread where I posted my UMC music some years ago, here is some more stuff . Most of the tracks are already in the UMC repo but there's a few additional ones as well.
And in case it needs to be said, I'm dual-licensing this under the GPL Wesnoth uses.
Can I simply adapt some classical music or technos from a famous movie or I have to pay them for copy rights before using them for a campaign in wesnoth?
Not sure if you can make music requests, but my favorite track in the Wesnoth OST is the Siege of Laurelmor and I was wondering if anyone has made, is making, or is going to make an addon track that is similar in style, rhythm, and sound to the Siege of Laurelmor.
