Music discussion
So this topic came up on IRC. I have created this sticky in the interest of completeness. This thread is to post what songs/bands are your favorite right now. It's in the same vein as all the other entertainment threads.
Re: What are you listening to?
Right now I'm in a state of flux with my music. Haven't been really listening to one thing.
UKFDrumandBass Channel on youtube which has tons of amazing music.
Ed Alleyne-Johnson is probably my favorite violinist ever. His stuff is great for working to. (Ed Alleyne-Johnson - Red)
I've also been listening to tracks off of the Neon Genesis Evangelion Soundtrack. NGE 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance - Fate
More as I hear it.

Re: What are you listening to?
I recently digitalized some really old audio-CDs so I'm listening to some 90s Dance and Trance stuff. I also enjoy .977 Hitz Chanel for online radio.

I like a band called Shooglenifty. Their music is a little hard to explaine, s try googling it or youtubing it.
My spritework can be seen here.

Änglagård: 1992 album Hybris. I just cannot get enough of this album.
King Crimson: Time to start The Great Deceiver live albums since I've finally worked my way through the studio albums enough times.
Genesis pre 1978 w/ Steve Hacket and pre 1976 w/ Peter Gabriel. Always love Peter's performance.
Solaris
Cynic: 2007 album Traced in the Air. I love it so much.
Opeth: 2007 album Ghost Reveries. I like it a lot more than Still Life.
The Rolling Stones: I never listened to their albums before, only on the radio. I really like Exile on Main Street.
Local push:
Mammatus from Santa Cruz, California. I am looking forward to their next album. Their live shows remind me of early Genesis in the way they play their hearts out for peanuts and the chance to play their music the way they want. They love to play their music the way they want.
They're dressed up like wizards...

My next project will probably be Gentle Giant.

Re: What are you listening to?
Classical music nut here. That pretty much explains what I listen to all day
Working on Sergei Prokofiev Third Piano Concerto, so listening to that a lot now. And also Robert Schumann Carnaval. Recommended, both pieces. They both are very likable.

In reality I listen to anything really from Tchaikowsky and Wagner to Guetta and Eminem. I'm cool like that...
'cept Bieber, we do not like Bieber
Edit: seriously though, West may be the king of douchebaggery but he is also a very good performer with some great songs.

Re: What are you listening to?
I'm with Bellerophon here. To me, music I enjoy is not about a genre or an artist. It has to have at least one of the following:Gambit wrote:What an incredible combination Bellerophon.
great composition
catchy melody
interesting/witty lyrics
strong connection to a certain memory
Johnny Cash for example has the most simplistic music you can think of, but his texts are great and additionally, I remember listening to one of his CDs over and over again on a fun road trip I took with to guys in California 2005.
