Uploading addon fails in 1.17
20210828 21:07:34 error addons-client: server error: message = Invalid WML received: found stray quotes in unquoted value
20210828 21:07:34 error network: network_asio::error thrown during transaction with add-on server; "stream truncated"
20210828 21:07:34 error general: Der Server hat die Verbindung unterbrochen. (server has broken the connection)
Tried it twice, same result each time.
This is the nightly flatpak from a few days back (whenever the new version came out) so 1.17 and trying to upload a minor patch to an addon gave this.
The 1.14 version uploaded fine to its server. Files are identical except for deletion of specialnotes macro in the 1.17 version. I looked for stray quotes but could not find any (only 2 small files were changed).

Which add-on?
99 little bugs in the code, 99 little bugs
take one down, patch it around
-2,147,483,648 little bugs in the code

vghetto is getting the identical error you are. I'm getting something about "stray quotes".
Re: Uploading addon fails in 1.17
We found out there's an issue with Wesnoth 1.15.16 and the bleeding edge version from master that caused the add-ons client to send corrupt WML data to the server. We also suspect the MP client is affected under very specific circumstances.
While the bug is already fixed for those tracking the source code from Git (either the 1.16 or master branches, including future Flatpak builds), the only way for other people to solve the issue is to wait for 1.15.17 or simply downgrade to 1.15.15. Those building from source without Git may also just revert this patch.
We are also looking into the possibility of releasing 1.15.17 sooner than scheduled to address this.
