Clarification of terms

Re: Clarification of terms
The stub string is used in the editor, where it is the standard name given to the auto-generated time of day shedule as a example.
Re: Clarification of terms
Thanks!
Maybe we should come up with a better example name, as anybody who doesn't speak code won't know what a stub is.
I just had a look at the editor, but I can't find the string, so 'm not coming up with any better ideas for this at the moment though.

Re: Clarification of terms
I have a question for 1.13, textdomain
wesnoth
:Code: Select all
src/generators/default_map_generator_job.cpp:707
Random maps with an odd data.width aren't supported.
data.width
is not an English word, so I don't know what to make of it. Shall I translate this term or not?Re: Clarification of terms
i think the stringchange here is a mistake, it happened in https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/comm ... 58bbf6L715 and are mostlikely the result off a whole-file text replace.
EDIT: fixed in https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/comm ... a64a476b46
EDIT: fixed in https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/comm ... a64a476b46
Scenario with Robots SP scenario (1.11/1.12), allows you to build your units with components, PYR No preperation turn 1.12 mp-mod that allows you to select your units immideately after the game begins.
Re: Clarification of terms
I'm not sure if it was a mistake or not that it got changed from "odd width" to "odd data.width" in the first place, but since the latter is referring to code specifics, it shouldn't be translated. But I don't see any problem with just ignoring the "data." part and translating it like you would translate "odd width".GunChleoc wrote:I have a question for 1.13, textdomainwesnoth

EDIT: But yes, gfgtdf's guess is probably right.

Thanks for the replies and the quick fix
Re: Clarification of terms
Another bug:
src/synced_user_choice.cpp:329
waiting for $desc from side(s)$sides
Needs a blank space.
The plural is also a bit awkward - ngettext would be nice if possible.

_n("waiting for $desc from sides $side","waiting for $desc from sides $sides", sides)
In case we cross-posted, I also had question in my last post.
And a new question: I have just programmed the village names generator for my language, how do I get the village names on screen for testing? Also, can I set Wesnoth to use the new name generators only for testing? I want to make sure that there are no crashes.
Re: Clarification of terms
And another bug:
[topic]: id=editor_tool_starting
Of certain what?
[topic]: id=editor_tool_starting
Code: Select all
Defines the side leader starting position
This tool gives only limited control over the start locations of certain.
Re: Clarification of terms
No idea what thi text was supposed to be, feel free to suggest a better testGunChleoc wrote:And another bug:

Re: Clarification of terms
There's quite a few nonsense strings there that you're quite free to translate as you see fit without following the original text (assuming that you know what function they describe, of course). In this case though, I have no idea what the original intent of that sentence might have been.
Also, wfl stands for Wesnoth Formula Language.

Re: Clarification of terms
Thanks for your answers!
I don't use the editor, so I can't suggest a better text - that one isn't easy to test for in order to find out what the restrictions might be. So, I just added a GIGO translation
I also found where the village names are generated - on random maps only. So, I managed to get some testing done I ran into some issues though which I posted to the ideas forum, since Dugi might now. Or shall I create a bug report in Gna instead?

Re: Clarification of terms
Well, "stub" isn't just a coding term, though. It can be used rather generally for something short, roughly. But you may have a point anyway... it's a little weird to call it a "Stub ToD"...GunChleoc wrote:Maybe we should come up with a better example name, as anybody who doesn't speak code won't know what a stub is.
WFL stands for "Wesnoth Formula Language". In this case, it's the pseudo-speaker used to show the result of an AI debug formula (entered via the F command) in the chat area.GunChleoc wrote: ETA - and another question:

Kinda wondering now if it should have some "prefix^" for explanation...
Re: Clarification of terms
No need for a prefix. I'd do one of the following instead:Celtic_Minstrel wrote:WFL stands for "Wesnoth Formula Language". In this case, it's the pseudo-speaker used to show the result of an AI debug formula (entered via the F command) in the chat area.

- Remove the localization marker, because this is a really technical proper noun. If I translated that as "cfb", people would not understand it.
- Add a translators comment (we can do that now).
